Loyalty API

The Loyalty API is a capability that enables Card Linked Loyalty.

At a high level, all loyalty programs work in a similar way. They need to identity the customer and associate them with the sale. In store, that association is accomplished in a few different ways, including:

• The customer presents their loyalty card from their wallet (plastic or digital)
• The staff look up the customer on the POS by their name, email or mobile

All these methods come with some repetitiveness and friction. In slow paced sales environments (such as most retail environments) it’s not necessarily an issue but in fast paced environments such as busy hospitality venues or retail stores, these methods are impractical.

Tyro Connect’s Loyalty API solves this problem through Card Linked Loyalty. Rather than having to check in each time a customer makes a purchase, customers subscribe to a loyalty program through either a purchase made in store (or online) or by registering their payment card through an App developed by the loyalty partner.

Once registered, Tyro Connect then monitors payments made in store / online and every time that card is used, the loyalty partner is immediately notified about the details of the transaction (potentially with the sales data as well) so that the customer can be awarded points or whatever is appropriate for the transaction.

At any point if the customer wishes to unsubscribe from the program or deregister a particular card from their profile, we have an API that offers both of those functions as well.
